Flag Football Player of the Week: Hebron Christian’s Mia James

Mia James, a senior at Hebron Christian, is GHSF Daily’s Flag Football Player of the Week. James was 12-of-16 passing for 146 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for 52 yards on 10 carries in two victories during the first full week of the flag football season. Hebron defeated Buford 13-4 and Meadowcreek 34-6. James also is an all-state point guard on Hebron’s two-time Class 3A championship girls basketball team and is committed to play basketball at George Washington. “M.J. plays quarterback like she plays point guard,” Hebron Christian coach Chad Griffin said. “She is in total control of the offense while she is out there. Now in year three as our quarterback, she knows what to run and what she is seeing on the field. She has the confidence to go to our offensive coordinator, Coach [David] Lincoln, and communicate that. She is an intense competitor that will have to guide some younger receivers and playmakers along the way as the season progresses.”

GHSF Daily, in partnership with Score Atlanta, will recognize a Flag Football Player of the Week each Monday through the December state finals. Winners will be presented with an award at their school and be featured on the “Georgia High School Sports Daily” TV show on the Peachtree Sports Network. Nominations can be sent by Sunday each week by clicking here.
