Flag Football Player of the Week: Westside-Macon’s Zylea Dinkins

Zylea Dinkins, a junior middle linebacker for undefeated Westside of Macon, is GHSF Daily’s Flag Football Player of the Week. Dinkins intercepted three passes, returning two for touchdowns, in a 27-0 victory over Mary Persons that clinched the Area 5 Division I championship last week and improved Westside’s record to 13-0. Dinkins is the leading tackler on a team that has won its last six games by shutout and allowed 24 points on the season. “She plays under control, takes great angles and breaks on the ball very well,” Westside coach Josh Grube said. Dinkins is also an all-region basketball player. Westside will enter the flag playoffs next week.

GHSF Daily, in partnership with Score Atlanta, will recognize a Flag Football Player of the Week each Monday through the December state finals. Winners will be presented with an award at their school and be featured on the “Georgia High School Sports Daily” TV show on the Peachtree Sports Network.
