Week 5 Student-Athlete of the Week: Peachtree Ridge’s John Dutton

John Dutton, a 6-foot-2 senior defensive end and tight end at Peachtree Ridge, is the scoutSMART Student-Athlete of the Week. Dutton is a leader for his peers and in his community. He serves as team captain for three sports (football, wrestling and lacrosse) and is president of the I Am A Difference Maker program, a member of National Honor Society, an FCA officer and a member of the IDEALS leadership program. “I’ve never had an athlete that reached elite status in three different sports while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA and being involved in just about every school club under the sun,” Peachtree Ridge first-year head coach Matt Helmerich said. “He’s been a leader since the day I took over. Not only is he a great player, but he’s a better kid. And I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s president one day!”
