Week 6 Student-Athlete of the Week: Jackson Hughes, Marist

Jackson Hughes, a 5-foot-11, 225-pound senior fullback at Marist, is the scoutSMART Student-Athlete of the Week. Hughes has a 4.2 GPA and is being recruited to play college football by Johns Hopkins, Davidson, Dartmouth, Georgetown, Cornell, Washington and Lee, and Stetson, among others. He shadowed this past summer with Marist team physician Dr. Marv Royster and plans to study pre-med in college to ultimately become an orthopedic surgeon. “Jackson Hughes has been the hardest-working and most dedicated player on our team for four years,” Marist head coach Alan Chadwick said. “He lives and breathes football year-round. His commitment to training and improving himself has been remarkable and has set an example for others to follow. Jackson has also shown great tenacity in recovering from a knee injury his sophomore year and is one of our team’s best leaders. His performance for our team, particularly in the fourth quarter of some really tough games, has helped propel our team to a 4-1 record.”
