Week 8 Player of the Week: Prince Avenue Christian’s Aaron Philo

Prince Avenue Christian coach Greg Vandagriff said that beating the Baylor School of Chattanooga might’ve been the biggest non-playoff win in school history.

Prince Avenue Christian quarterback Aaron Philo (11) is joined by players and coaches for the presentation of the Georgia state Player of the Week plaque.

With the score 35-35, Aaron Philo threw a 41-yard touchdown pass to Ethan Christian with 1:11 left in the 42-35 victory over the No. 1-ranked team in Tennessee’s Class II-AAA. Philo completed 26 of 31 passes for 385 yards and three touchdowns and scored two touchdowns.

“We really cannot say enough about Aaron,” Vandagriff said. “All he does is win. He is not always the flashiest kid, but he can make all the throws and keeps making plays with his feet to allow us to move the chains and continue to score. Some college is going to get one heck of a player.”

Philo is GHSF Daily’s state Player of the Week. The award is sponsored by Sports Turf.
