Week 9 Player of the Week: Buford’s Justice Haynes

Justice Haynes’ 214 yards against Mill Creek in a game between unbeaten teams last week moved him ahead of NFL rookie and former Florida and Bainbridge star Dameon Pierce into 11th place all-time in Georgia rushing history.

Justice Haynes was joined by other players of the game from Buford’s victory over Mill Creek when he received his state Player of the Week plaque at the school on Oct. 19, 2022.

A Buford senior committed to Alabama, Haynes has 6,850 yards and soon can become the seventh player in state history to surpass 7,000.

Haynes also is in select GHSF Daily company as the second player to win our Player of the Week award twice. Haynes also was honored in 2020 as a sophomore at Blessed Trinity. The only other player to win twice was Travis Hunter of Collins Hill in 2021 and 2022.

Haynes is the second Buford player to get the award this season, which is unprecedented. Defensive end Eddrick Houston was GHSF Daily’s Player of the Week only three weeks ago.

The award is sponsored by Sports Turf.
