35 former Georgia high school players invited to NFL Combine

Thirty-five former Georgia high school players got invites to the NFL Combine, which will be held Tuesday through Monday in Indianapolis. That’s more than 1-in-10 of the 319 total invitees.

Grayson has the most representatives among Georgia schools with three – linebacker Owen Pappoe and linemen Wanya Morris and Isaiah Land. All were sophomores on Grayson’s 2016 state-championship team, though Morris and Land were primarily on the JV team that season.

B.J. Ojulari and Rashad Torrence also were state-winning teammates who’ll be in Indy. They were members of Marietta’s 2019 state-championship team.

Other schools with two are North Gwinnett (Josh Downs and D.J. Turner) and Dutchtown (Trey Dean and Will Anderson).

Peachtree Ridge has two graduates - Robert Beal and Payne Durham - though Beal did not play football at Peachtree Ridge, but at Norcross before transferring.

Also included is former Calvary Day player Nolan Smith, who finished up at IMG Academy.

Those projected to go highest in the draft are Dutchtown’s Anderson, Lithonia’s Broderick Jones, Hillgrove’s Myles Murphy and Sandy Creek’s Brian Branch.
