Update: Burke County coach home from hospital

Burke County head coach Eric Parker is home from the hospital after suffering a heart attack during Monday night’s game against Wayne County. Parker has set no immediate timetable for his return to the team.

Parker posted an upbeat progress report on his Twitter account Thursday. “I’m resting, took my meds, and I’m eating fruit, but my wife still won’t let me get on Hudl!!” he said. Hudl is a tool that lets coaches watch game film and compile statistics.

Burke County, ranked No. 6 in Class 4A with a 7-2 record, will play Friday night at Southeast Bulloch and can clinch the No. 3 seed from Region 3 with a victory.
