Computer forecast for Class A Division I

The Maxwell Ratings, compiled by mathematician and Georgia High School Football Historians Association founder Loren Maxwell, have projected the region finishes of all 415 football-playing schools in the GHSA. The projections are based on historical scores, with the most recent season weighing most heavily. Teams that did unusually well, or poorly, in 2023 are projected to regress toward the mean. The ratings do not consider changes in player personnel or coaching staff. Below are Maxwell’s projections and a brief look at how Class 3A shapes up in 2024. Teams listed in red are private schools that will play with public schools in region play but go into a Class 3A-A private-only division for the state playoffs. Under class rank, the first number is a team’s ranking among all Class 3A teams. The number in parentheses is the team’s ranking among those in its playoff classification. There are 26 Class 3A-A private teams. There are 46 Class A Division I public teams.
