East Forsyth’s Allison, Mount Vernon’s Dabbs step down

Brian Allison of East Forsyth and Wayne Dabbs of Mount Vernon stepped down Thursday after playoff seasons, bringing to 23 the number of GHSA schools with coaching openings.

Allison retired after 28 years as a Georgia head coach with stops at alma mater Union County (1996-2001, 2008-20) and Winder-Barrow (2002-07) before starting East Forsyth’s program in 2021.

East Forsyth finished 7-4 and made the Class 4A playoffs this season after a 6-4 finish in 2022.

Dabbs was Mount Vernon’s coach for nine seasons, the past eight ending in playoff berths. This season’s team went 8-4 in Class A Division I while averaging a school-record 38.4 points.

Dabbs will remain at Mount Vernon, an Atlanta private school, as director of community giving and impact.
