Flag football 5A-6A: Greenbrier 14, Lithia Springs 6

Recap: Maggie Pangle, playing on an injured ankle, caught a 24-yard touchdown pass from Kenzie Horton with 4:10 remaining and Greenbrier added a safety on the final play of the game to defeat the defending champions. It was the first title for Greenbrier (19-1), which was eliminated from the playoffs by Lithia Springs the past two seasons. Lithia Springs was making its third consecutive appearance in the finals, including a runner-up finish in 2021. Horton gave Greenbrier a 6-0 lead with a 20-yard touchdown pass to Aaliyah Silver with 5:45 remaining in the first quarter, but Lithia Springs answered on the ensuing possession with a 54-yard touchdown pass from Rashyia Minnex-Moss to Jasmine McDowell. Horton completed 10 of 20 passes for 88 of Greenbrier’s 110 yards. Silver had four receptions for 33 yards, and Presley McDonald had three catches for 26 yards.
