John Milledge Academy wins state-record 48th straight game

John Milledge Academy set a state record with its 48th consecutive victory Friday by beating the Heritage School of Newnan 42-7 in the quarterfinals of the GIAA playoffs. John Milledge passed Buford’s streak that ended in 2004.

“The first thing it means is we’ve got another week to play,” John Milledge coach J.T. Wall told Gil Pound of the Milledgeville Union-Recorder (read the game story here). “We’ve got to stay focused on the semifinals, but we’ll be able to kick back and look at the big picture hopefully in about two weeks.”

John Milledge, of Milledgeville, will play at home Friday against Valwood of Valdosta in the GIAA’s Class 3A semifinals.
