The Leaderboard: North Murray duo off to hot start through Week 4

North Murray’s Skyler Williams and Judson Petty and Gainesville’s Gavin Hall are the GHSA’s yardage leaders after four weeks.

Williams has thrown for 1,249 yards, and 687 of those have gone to Petty, a preseason all-state pick. Williams also has rushed for 488 yards and nine touchdowns for a team that averages 39 points per game.

North Murray, the northwest Georgia school that produced Georgia wide receiver Ladd McConkey, is known for high-flying offenses and entertaining games for those who enjoy points scored. The Mountaineers (2-2) lead the state, as they did last season, in average points scored for both teams at 75.3 in their four games.

They’ve made the playoffs eight seasons running, or every year since coach Preston Poag, a former N.C. State quarterback, was hired.

The GHSA’s rushing leader, Hall, has rushed for more than 120 yards in each of his four games, including a season-high 203 against Marist.
