What are the signs of a concussion?

Coaches and parents play a key role in concussion awareness. Learning the signs and symptoms of a concussion can equip you to act when head injuries happen.

Signs coaches and parents may observe:

  • Appearing dazed or confused

  • Exhibiting forgetfulness

  • Moving clumsily

  • Answering questions slowly

  • Showing behavior or personality changes

Symptoms athletes may report:

  • Headache

  • Nausea

  • Dizziness

  • Blurry vision

  • Fogginess

  • Fatigue

  • Concentration problems

If you notice any of these symptoms, remove them from practice and contact the athlete’s doctor.

Children’s is here to support you in your mission to protect your athletes on and off the field, and ensuring they stay in the game they love. Find more concussion resources at choa.org/concussion-awareness.
