Round 2 Player of the Week: Walton’s Jeremy Hecklinski

Jeremy Hecklinski has had better games on paper, but probably never on the field.

Quarterback Jeremy Hecklinski is joined by his Walton teammates as he receives his Georgia Player of the Week plaque at his school on Nov. 23, 2022.

Walton’s junior quarterback was 21-of-39 passing for 315 yards and three touchdowns and scored a touchdown in 42-35 victory over No. 1-ranked Buford in a Class 7A second-round playoff game last week. Hecklinski has thrown for 3,324 yards this season, the most in 7A.

“He lit them up,” Walton coach Daniel Brunner said. “That’s the most points anyone has scored on Buford [this season]. Jeremy has done a great job of leading the boys this year. He has a great spirit about the way he approaches the game and goes about his business. He’s not too loose or too tight. He has the pulse of the team.”

Hecklinski is GHSF Daily’s state Player of the Week. The award is sponsored by Sports Turf.
