Semifinal Player of the Week: Milton’s C.J. Wiley

Milton’s C.J. Wiley, with head coach Ben Reaves, was named GHSF Daily’s Player of the Week after the Eagles’ semifinal victory over Lee County.

C.J. Wiley was the state’s leading receiver last season. With "only" 1,064 yards this season, about 400 off his old pace, he might not defend that title with so many other talented weapons in the Milton offense, but he remains firmly in contention for the title of Georgia’s best wide receiver.

The AJC Super 11 pick had his best game this season last week in No. 1 Milton’s 56-28 victory over No. 2 Lee County in the Class 5A semifinals. Wiley had five receptions for 165 yards and three touchdowns, two longer than 60 yards to break open what had been a 21-21 game in the second quarter.

The state’s consensus No. 1 senior WR recruit, who has signed with Georgia, now has 126 receptions for 2,537 yards and 28 touchdowns the past two seasons for a reigning state champion now one victory from another title.

Wiley is GHSF Daily’s Player of the Week. The award is sponsored by Sports Turf.
