Week 1 Player of the Week: Fellowship Christian’s Jonathan Granby

The Fellowship Christian quarterback Jonathan Granby passed 128 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 119 yards and two touchdowns in a 36-35 victory Friday over defending Class A Division II champion Bowdon.

It wasn’t Granby’s numbers. It was his timing and precision.

His 71-yard TD run broke a 14-14 tie in a game of four lead changes. His 10-yard TD run was on a third-and-6. His 13-yard TD pass was on target to a well-covered receiver.

And his final TD throw, off a scramble, was a 22-yarder to Kolton Driskell amid four defenders in the back of the end zone with no time remaining. Then he tossed to Driskell for the winning two-point conversion.

Granby, a junior, is GHSF Daily’s Player of the Week. The award is sponsored by Sports Turf.

GHSF Daily Player of the Week Jonathan Granby of Fellowship Christian was joined by (from left) principal Ari Durham, head coach John Thompson and athletic director David Lowery at the presentation.
