Week 1 Student-Athlete of the Week: Mount Paran Christian’s George Childs

George Childs, a 5-foot-10, 173-pound senior kicker at Mount Paran, is the scoutSMART Student-Athlete of the Week. Childs kicked the winning field goal in overtime in the Eagles’ 29-26 victory over Midtown last week. He has a 4.3 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society, as well as the Math and Spanish National Honor Societies. Childs volunteers with a special needs kickball program and at Calvary Children's Home. “George is a phenomenal player, teammate and leader on our football team,” Mount Paran coach Matt Ely said. “He is one of the hardest-working kids on the MPC football team, which paid off Friday night as he kicked a 40-yard field goal as time expired to send the game to overtime and a 32-yarder for the win in overtime.”
