Round 1 Player of the Week: Stephenson’s Devin Ingram

Devin Ingram was having an outstanding game before his team got down 38-26 with five minutes to play in the Class 4A first round last week. Then he finished it.

The junior running back from Stephenson returned a kickoff 60 yards for a touchdown and scored on a 58-yard run with 1:15 left give Jaguars a 40-38 victory over Pace Academy.

Ingram rushed for 203 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 18 carries, returned two kickoffs for touchdowns and finished with 363 all-purpose yards.

“The skill set that stands out the most is his speed and ability to make defenders miss in the hole,” Stephenson coach Marcus Jelks said. “He’s been coming on strong.”

Ingram is GHSF Daily’s state Player of the Week. The award is sponsored by Sports Turf.
