Flag Football Player of the Week: McEachern’s Amber Kirkpatrick

Amber Kirkpatrick, a senior at McEachern, is GHSF Daily’s Flag Football Player of the Week. Kirkpatrick led McEachern to a 16-0 regular season, which concluded with four victories Saturday. Kirkpatrick had 2,017 passing yards and 34 touchdowns and 254 rushing yards entering the final games, for which statistics haven’t been tabulated. McEachern is Georgia’s No. 1-ranked flag football team, according to MaxPreps. “Amber is truly a student of the game,” McEachern coach Jake Burgdorf said. “She constantly watches film and is always finding ways to improve. She really understands situational football and adjusts well on the fly. We trust her enough to give her the option to change the play at the line of scrimmage.” Amber’s twin sister, Autumn, is one of McEachern’s leading receivers. Both play lacrosse and plan to play that sport at Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee.

GHSF Daily, in partnership with the Atlanta Falcons, will recognize a flag football player of the week each Monday through the December state finals. The Falcons will provide a “Falcons Care Package” of souvenirs and merchandise to each weekly winner at the end of the season. Nominations can be sent by Sunday each week by clicking here or replying to this email.
