Week 7 Team of the Week: Hebron Christian

Hebron Christian has made the playoffs six straight seasons and reached the Class A Private quarterfinals in 2019, but the Lions’ biggest headlines came this offseason when the Dacula private school hired Jonathan Gess, a six-time state champion at Eagle’s Landing Christian, as its head coach and volunteered to play up in Class 3A.

Now, big headlines are being made on the field. Hebron defeated No. 5 Oconee County 35-28 last week – the program’s first victory over a top-five opponent in an AJC/GHSF Daily poll – and moved to 6-0 for the first time in history. The Lions are No. 5 in this week’s 3A ranking, also a program best.
