Week 7 Player of the Week: Worth County’s Chip Cooper

First-year Worth County coach Jeff Hamond inherited a program that hadn’t had a winning season since 2016, but he also found a rising senior quarterback who had rushed for 1,002 yards and passed for 1,921 in just 10 games the prior season.

Cooper, GHSF Daily’s state Player of the Week, passed for 408 yards and six touchdowns and rushed for 96 yards in a 47-38 victory over Dodge County last week.

“Chip is a true dual-threat quarterback,” Hammond said. “He is a strong runner and can sit back and go through his reads and deliver an accurate ball. The one bonus Chip brings is the ability to extend plays when protection breaks down.”

Worth County is 6-0 for the first time since 1989.

The award is sponsored by Sports Turf.
