Flag Football Player of the Week: Peach County’s Ariana Respress

Ariana Respress, a junior quarterback and safety at Peach County, is GHSF Daily’s Flag Football Player of the Week. Respress led Peach County to four victories last week and the program’s first area championship. Peach has improved to 12-3 this season after going 1-8 last year. Respress was 43-of-67 passing for 481 yards and eight touchdowns and rushed for 267 yards in victories over Rutland 14-0, Veterans 20-7, Houston County 20-0 and Warner Robins 19-0. She intercepted two passes, broke up two passes and had four flag pulls in those games. “She has developed an IQ for the game that makes it hard to defend her,” Peach County coach Khayla Owens said. “She plays guard in basketball, and her critical decision-making can be seen on the football field. She’s a natural leader who communicates with her teammates every play, whether it be encouragement or to help with fixing their play. Her teammates truly respect her, and it shows every game as they play for each other.”

GHSF Daily, in partnership with Score Atlanta, will recognize a Flag Football Player of the Week each Monday through the December state finals. Winners will be presented with an award at their school and be featured on the “Georgia High School Sports Daily” TV show on the Peachtree Sports Network. Nominations can be sent by Sunday each week by clicking here.
