Round 1 Player of the Week: Archer’s Jonathan Do

Archer quarterback Jonathan Do is joined by head coach Dante Williams for the presentation of the GHSF Daily Player of the Week award.

Archer needed a Hollywood ending to beat Harrison last week, and Jonathan Do delivered on que, throwing a 37-yard touchdown pass to Tyree Begne with 13 seconds left to give the Tigers a 46-42 victory in the Class 6A first round.

“He has the Rocky Balboa attitude,” Archer coach Dante Williams said of his junior quarterback. “He will keep swinging and punching and fighting, regardless of the opponent, until the clock reaches triple zeroes.”

Do was 27-of-32 passing for 405 yards and rushed for 127 yards. He passed for five of Archer’s seven touchdowns and ran for the other two.

Archer, a 3-7 team in the regular season, advanced to the second round to play West Forsyth.

Do is GHSF Daily’s Player of the Week. The award is sponsored by Sports Turf.
