Week 13 Student-Athlete of the Week: Marist’s Drew Linnihan

Drew Linnihan, a senior kicker/punter at Marist, is the scoutSMART Student-Athlete of the Week. Linnihan is the leading scorer for the Class 4A No. 1-ranked War Eagles with 65 points. He has made 47 of 48 extra points and is 6-for-7 on field goals, and 49 of his 62 kickoffs have been touchbacks. Linnihan has a 4.1 GPA and scored 34 on the ACT. “Drew has been a definite weapon for our team this year. His ability to put it in the end zone on kickoffs has helped us gain an advantage in field position in every game,” Marist coach Alan Chadwick said. “His leg strength gives us a chance for points every time we advance past an opponent's 40-yard line. He has worked hard to improve not only his leg strength but also his accuracy. He only took up punting two years ago and has exceeded everyone’s expectations and become a very consistent punter.”
