Round 2 Team of the Week: Rome

Rome figured it needed a complete game to beat defending Class 6A champion Hughes. The Wolves delivered that.

Rome’s 42-14 victory marked the first time that Hughes has been held to fewer than 20 points in 40 games. Four Rome defenders – Tinerious Snellings, Jaedon Harmon, Rae Sykes Jr. and DeKaylon Daniel – earned souvenir interceptions against Ohio State-committed QB Air Noland.

Rome's offense was just as good, as the 42 points were the most scored against Hughes in 41 games.

More importantly, Rome is back in the semifinals, the round where the Wolves lost to Hughes 42-3 a year ago. This time, in a home game, the opponent will be Thomas County Central.

Rome is GHSF Daily’s Team of the Week. The award is sponsored by BSN SPORTS and Titan Electric.
