Round 2 Player of the Week: Wesleyan’s Ben Brown

Wesleyan’s Ben Brown is joined by head coach Franklin Pridgen for the presentation of GHSF Daily’s state Player of the Week award.

Wesleyan coach Franklin Pridgen called Ben Brown a superstar this week. The junior quarterback played like one in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs Friday as he passed for 356 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for a career-high 109 yards and one touchdown in a 33-26 victory over sixth-ranked Stephens County.

“Ben’s journey and growth is a massive reason why we’re in the quarterfinals as a small school playing up. That can’t be understated,” Pridgen said. “He’s a junior with a huge upside and a high football IQ.”

Wesleyan won last week as a 19-point underdog against a team that beat the Wolves 51-14 in the 2022 first round. In last year's Stephens County game, Brown produced 98 yards passing and rushing. This time, he had 465.

A second-year starter, Brown has set school records for passing yards (3,090) and touchdown passes (39) in a season.

Brown is GHSF Daily’s Player of the Week. The award is sponsored by Sports Turf.
