Week 10 Team of the Week: Kell

It’s not over, but the computer Maxwell Ratings love Kell’s odds of winning its first region championship since 2014.

“Looks like 999,994 out of a million with GAC winning it the other six times,” according to the Maxwell Ratings founder himself, Loren Maxwell.

Kell principal Peter Giles, athletic director Jeff Burch, head coach Bobby May and the team captains are joined by Scott McDonnell of Titan Electric and Robbie Macy of BSN Sports for the presentation of the state Team of the Week award.

The unsurprising news comes after Kell, under second-year coach Bobby May, defeated Greater Atlanta Christian 42-34 in a game between top-10 Class 5A teams last week, putting the Longhorns in first place in Region 6. Bryce Clavon, the state’s No. 1 baseball prospect and maybe its best dual-threat quarterback, passed for 268 yards and rushed for 131.

A victory this week at North Springs or next week at Chattahoochee will lock up the title. Kell’s chances in preseason were 33.2%, Maxwell said.

Kell is GHSF Daily’s Team of the Week. The award, sponsored by BSN Sports and Titan Electric, will be presented to the team today at the school.
